Flores emerged from a daylong immersion with a long-time mentor that had Emilie Basez contemplating the concept of wandering in circles—not as a sign of repetition, but as a journey of returning to parts of ourselves with new awareness. On a road trip through New Mexico, a place she has traveled many times, the song captured a new feeling when Basez played the new song inside of a light sanctuary, where large prisms in place of windows scattered rainbows across the white chapel walls. The song vibrated within the sacred space and created a familiar sense of presence, like returning to a moment, a feeling, a place but it’s never quite the same, but rather bathed in new light.
Basez began recording the song in Austin with musician and producer, Gene Evaro Jr. He brought an ethereal and cinematic feel to the song that lent itself to bringing the fullness of Ley Line vocals and bass. Ley Line got together to write new music and track Flores while tucked away in a cabin outside of Boulder, Colorado in the snow-covered mountains.

“With Ley Line’s signature harmonies and acoustic instrumentation, Flores invites you into a meditative space where life is like a labyrinth, the past and present can intertwine in a way that creates peace.”
